Pawn Stars is a show about a family running the Gold and Silver pawn shop in Las Vegas, Nevada. Three generations are represented in the show - Richard Harrison, Rick Harrison (Richard's son), and Corey Harrison (Rick's son). I actually had to look up what their actual names were as in the show they are primarily referred to as "The Old Man", "Rick", and "Big Hoss", respectively. The Old Man and Rick are the co-owners of the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop which they opened together around 20 some-odd years ago. Each of these characters is interesting in their own way, but by far the most memorable character on the show is "Chumlee" – he plays the part of the “funny pawn shop idiot”. Without him, the show wouldn't be nearly as good :). And just for the record, his real name is Austin Russell - which isn't quite as catchy as "Chumlee" :).

One thing I like about the show is how they give the history behind all of the items that come into the shop. You can actually learn quite a bit regarding what items are valuable and what to look for in your own collections. I also like the way they sometimes buy old, rusted, items and send them out to get repaired. It's amazing how these people are able to restore antiques so that they appear brand new :). Overall, this is my favorite show on history television – I even watch the reruns that they show in between seasons :). Check it out.
