Hardcore Pawn is a show about a family running a pawn shop in Detroit, Michigan. The owner of the shop is Les Gold and he runs it with his his son Seth Gold and daughter Ashley Gold. Initially I thought the show would be very similar to Pawn Stars. I figured since it came out after that show that it was just trying to copy that show. However, the only similarity seems to be that both shops are run by families. Also, whereas Pawn Stars focuses a bit more on the history of the items it accepts, Hardcore Pawn is more like a reality show.
I'm actually not entirely convinced that the situations that take place in the show are completely real. However, the show is entertaining in any case and is better than some of the other “reality†shows on tv today. I don't like it as much as Pawn Stars (I actually like learning about the various items, and I actually like the family on that show a bit better) – but it's a nice diversion and a pretty entertaining show.
