Nessun Dorma is one of the most famous Opera songs of all time and has been featured in countless motion pictures and plays – the first time I heard it was in the 1956 film Serenade starring Mario Lanza. One wouldn't normally think that anyone could perform the song as well as Lanza, or even Opera legends such as Luciano Pavarotti, but somehow Michael Bolton does.
I have personally witnessed the song being performed by numerous artists in concert such as the Ten Tenors and Aretha Franklin, and I have to say that Michael Bolton's version is by far my favorite. I've been to three of Bolton's concerts (he is one of my favorite singers of all time), and every time he performs Nessun Dorma the entire audience always gives him a standing ovation.
Bolton's powerful, raspy voice and emotional performance is more than enough to carry off the deep meaning of the song. The song itself has wonderful lyrics and the melody of the song is extremely memorable. This is my favorite song of all time being performed by one of my favorite artists, you should definitely give it a listen when you get the chance.
