This movie is definitely one of my favorite movies of all-time. Thirty years later it still makes me cry. The part of Richard Collier is played by Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour plays the part of Elise McKenna. McKenna is an actress and Collier is a successful playwright from Chicago. Both of these parts are brilliantly cast. Reeve and Seymour are perfect as the lovers in this moving, romantic story set in 1912.
Richard Collier is enchanted by the image of a beautiful woman in a portrait hanging in the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan. The woman in the portrait is Elise McKenna a stage actress in the early 1900s. Through self-hypnosis Collier goes back in time to meet the woman of his dreams.
The scenery is beautiful and the theme song evokes so many different emotions - happiness, sadness, and hope. Really love this time period and the costume designs are gorgeous. The setting is awesome. The movie was filmed at the Grand Hotel on scenic Mackinac Island. A love story that you can enjoy over and over again. This movie never loses its appeal. Unforgettable.
