Like most of the games in the series (except maybe Resident Evil 4), Afterlife was full of plot holes and terrible acting. However, since I have played most of the games (and have seen the other Resident Evil movies) I knew what to expect going in.
Overall, the movie met my expectations and I found it slightly better than the previous one. There were plenty of "wow" moments and the casting was pretty good, especially Wentworth Miller as Chris Redfield. I found one of the best parts of the movie Miller's constant remarks like "I know a way out", etc.. For those who don't know, he is the same actor from the Prison Break TV Series where he makes very similar statements making them quite humourous for those that know the connection.
This leads me to one of the other minor quibbles I had with the movie - it assumes that its viewers know a lot about the Resident Evil franchise. Without going into too much detail, lets just say the majority of "non-gamers" will be left totally lost and confused during certain aspects of the film.
Just a side note, if you go to see this movie do not leave the theatre during the credits. Once they finish rolling you will be treated to a pretty interesting "surprise". Overall, this was a pretty enjoyable mindless action flick with some pretty good humor thrown in.
