First let me preface this review by stating that I have read several of Matthew Reilly 's other novels and found them to be very good. Whereas some of his other novels, such as Ice Station and Temple, had something resembling a believable plot, this novel was just too far fetched for its own good. Ice Station and Temple, while also filled with some quasi-impossible situations, had enough substance to hold your interest (and suspension of disbelief) throughout the entire journey. Unfortunately, that is not the case here.
Reilly introduces so many gimmicky/improbable concepts at such a brisk rate that its almost laughable and makes it appear as though he is doing so just because he can't be bothered to think of an actual believable story.
The good news is that if you are a fan of action then you will be in for a real treat here. You will experience the protagonists barely escaping from impossible situations, never before seen scientific technologies, people surviving executions, etc..
Basically, I would only recommend this novel to those that enjoy action-packed stories whose plots/situations have no bearing in reality.
